The Cost of Discipleship by The Rev. Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Written in 1937, this book soon became a classic exposition of what it means to follow Christ in a modern world beset by a dangerous and corrupt government. A German Lutheran pastor, academic in the Hitler years, Bonhoeffer’s faith prompted his opposition to the Nazis at the outset of their formation. He was eventually imprisoned in Buchenwald and hung by the Gestapo in 1945.
