Engage
As a congregation, we take the commitments that we make in our Church Covenant seriously and do our best to live them out:
We pledge to seek justice, to oppose violence, racism, sexism, fear of differences, economic inequity, and abuse of power, and substitute acts of goodwill and caring; To feed the hungry, to nurture the ill, and to prevent cruelty to any of God’s children or any of God’s Creatures. We pledge ourselves to welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions into the full life and ministry of the church.
We strive to engage in contemporary social issues through a variety of programs and direct action:
- Operate a food pantry, which has been run by church volunteers for more than 20 years
- Celebrate Pride Month by participating in the Pride in the CLE March and Festival, hosting a Pride service, and participating in other Pride activities
- Take on other projects, such as packing backpacks with personal care items for individuals who are unhoused, assembling disaster relief kits, and connecting with groups who are supporting refugees and immigrants.
Our engagement is coordinated by our Board of Faith Formation and Discipleship. We welcome volunteers from the church and beyond to make these initiatives happen.
