Eight hundred years ago, an Italian Catholic friar taught that nature is the mirror of God. Any one of us who has had the privilege of being loved by an animal knows that to be true.  You are invited to a Blessing of the Animals service on Saturday, October 5 at 2:00 pm on the front steps of the church. We will bless the living and offer prayers of gratitude for animal companions no longer with us. You are invited to bring your pet (or photos of living or deceased pets) for a brief service of blessing and gratitude for the joy they bring to us.
Please have dogs on a leash and other animals either in a cage or properly restrained, for their safety. Each animal will receive a small metal collar tag that reads “God Bless My Pet.”
Blessing of the Animals services are frequently held in early October to coincide with the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Francis is the patron saint of animals and the environment.
